Two weeks ago I had no website. I had 10+ years of Bay Area real estate experience, an Engineering and MBA background, a mortgage license, and a growing list of happy clients, but no digital presence at all. No way for someone to find me at 2am when they were nervously Googling "Bay Area real estate advisor."
I decided to change that. Not by hiring an agency, and not by paying thousands of dollars to a developer. I wanted to do it myself, using AI, and see what actually happened.
Why I Did It Myself
Three reasons: curiosity, control, and cost. I was curious because AI has been everywhere lately and I wanted to understand it firsthand instead of reading about it or watching videos. I wanted control because I needed something that reflected how I actually work and who I am, not a generic template that looks like every other realtor website. And cost mattered too. A good agency would have charged $5,000 to $15,000 for what I needed, and that money felt better spent elsewhere.
So I opened Claude AI and typed my first prompt.
What I Built
Over 16 hours across two days I built a complete real estate advisory website at prasannaadvisory.com. The kind of thing most people assume takes months and costs thousands of dollars. Total cost was less than a nice dinner in San Francisco.
The Obstacles
Did it go smoothly? Absolutely not. Build errors appeared at midnight. The sitemap generated broken URLs all morning. Google Workspace decided my brand new domain was "already in use." Meta tags refused to format correctly no matter how many times we fixed them.
But honestly, I enjoyed every single problem. I was in a learning phase and I wanted to win over every obstacle. Each error was a puzzle, each fix was a small victory, and each problem solved made the next one feel more manageable. That same mindset, treating obstacles as opportunities, is the one I bring to every real estate transaction I handle for my clients.
What Surprised Me Most
I expected AI to write code, generate content, and answer my questions. What I did not expect was a partner.
Across those 16 hours, Claude held my hand through every obstacle. It gave me confidence when things broke, celebrated small wins with me, and explained complex technical concepts in plain English. And when I wanted to keep going past midnight, it told me to get some rest. I honestly did not expect that from a machine.
That moment made me realize something important. AI at its best isn't replacing human connection, it's making room for it, freeing up time and energy so you can focus on the relationships that actually matter. In real estate that means more time understanding my clients, fewer hours on administrative tasks, and sharper analysis backed by better tools.

This experience reminded me how quickly things become possible when curiosity replaces hesitation and problems are met with persistence instead of frustration.
